I think they would definitely look at how much will we lose in sales from keeping him to losing him.
And there is certainly the fact that they would look at whether they can make much more money out of him.
Did they also drop Tiger Woods? Probably after weighing up whether he was fading enough not to cost them more than keeping him.

If he had said that in my opinion marriage should be between a man and a woman I doubt Nike would have done anything. I'm guessing they have lots of God bothering athletes in American sports who'd probably say the same thing if asked.
Unfortunately (or fortunately if you like people to reveal their true selves) he said that gays are worse than animals.
I don't think as a major corporate entity trying to sell things Nike can wear that.
That said I do think these companies are selectively moral dependent on the financial impact.
